About This Role
We are seeking a Senior-Level Full Stack Engineer to join 718 Digital Labs on a contract consultant basis with the potential to transition into a full-time role. This is a critical role for an experienced engineer who can independently lead the delivery of production-ready features, guide technical decision-making, and mentor junior team members. The Senior-Level Full Stack Engineer will be excited to work on projects like:

  • Volunteer Portal – Connect TKH alumni with technical mentors and track engagement
  • Knowledge Base + AI Chatbot – Build a dynamic resource hub and integrate GPT-powered chat for learner support
  • DigitalPipeline.io – Connect community members to technical job training program applications, digital literacy events, resources, and educational video content
  • KnowledgeBox – Use AI and Canvas LMS integration to generate personalized curriculum pathways and learning scaffolds for fellows

This is a high-ownership, hands-on technical leadership role ideal for someone who’s shipped real products, mentored other developers, and is passionate about delivering scalable, well-tested software. Technical Leadership

  • Lead the development and deployment of production-ready features across TKH’s digital products (TKH
  • Website, Digital Pipeline, Knowledge Base, Knowledge Box, Volunteer Portal).
  • Own the technical architecture, coding standards, and code review processes.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in CI/CD, testing, and security.

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Mentor apprentices and junior engineers to improve technical quality and delivery velocity.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.

Innovation & Efficiency

  • Identify and implement AI-assisted development tools and automation strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve technical processes, tools, and frameworks.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of professional full stack development experience (JavaScript/Node.js/React or similar).
  • Proven track record of independently delivering production-ready applications.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools and integrating AI capabilities into web applications.
  • Familiarity with both relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and back-end frameworks like Django or Flask

Skills and Approach to Work

  • Able to work independently, proactively manage workstreams, and communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong commitment to code quality, testing, documentation, and team knowledge sharing
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction.

Compensation

  • $48/hour
  • 34 hours/week
  • 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity
