Our client, a well-established and publicly traded company based in Syracuse, NY and one of the largest restaurant companies in the US, has an exciting and challenging opportunity in their Financial Reporting department for the role of Manager of Financial Reporting.
SUMMARY:
Perform and review internal and external financial reporting and provide technical accounting support for accounting and financial reporting functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft consolidated financial statements and related footnote disclosures to support the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC filings and other internal financial statement requirements.
- Supervise preparation and distribution of monthly internal financial report packages.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly board presentations, earnings release and earnings script.
- Ensure compliance with new accounting pronouncements and interpretations issued by the FASB, SEC and other authoritative sources. Perform related research on new accounting pronouncements and interpretations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance in various technical accounting areas including stock option accounting, asset impairment evaluation and purchase accounting.
- Assist with coordination of the external and internal annual and quarterly audits and reviews.
- Prepare quarterly debt covenant calculations.
- Review and coordinate work of the senior staff accountant in the Financial Reporting Department.
- Assist with various reporting requirements and presentations for senior management.
- Coordinate reporting needs with Corporate Accounting to manage timing of reporting deliverables.
- Assist in compliance with the various aspects of Sarbanes-Oxley as they relate to reporting.
- Support and manage the Company’s compliance with XBRL.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise the Staff Accountant position in the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year degree in Accounting required.
- 4 to 6 years public accounting experience that encompassed serving public company clients or similar external SEC financial reporting experience.
- CPA designation desirable but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Must be proficient in computer applications such as Excel and Word.
- Must have the ability to work independently.
- Must be proficient in researching accounting and SEC literature.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must have the ability to reach logical conclusions based on evidence at hand.
- Must be able to make decisions.
- Must be able to establish an appropriate course of action to accomplish a specific goal.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and other related software.
