Position Overview:
Our client is hiring a Director of Facilities that is responsible for the strategic oversight and daily operations of all agency-owned and leased facilities, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role includes leadership of the maintenance, custodial, and transportation teams and plays a critical part in long-term capital planning, renovations, preventative maintenance, and emergency response readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all facilities are safe, well-maintained, and in compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement preventative and long-term maintenance plans for each facility.
- Oversee renovations and construction projects, including writing scopes of work and functioning as clerk of the works.
- Direct and support maintenance staff across plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general contracting work.
- Supervise custodial services, ensuring cleanliness standards and infection control procedures.
- Manage all agency vehicles, including scheduling maintenance, tracking inspections, and recommending replacements.
- Oversee transportation operations, including compliance with DOT regulations and managing grant-funded bus acquisition.
- Respond to all facility-related emergencies as needed, including off-hours response.
- Develop and manage department budgets in collaboration with executive leadership.
- Maintain accurate records, ensure tool/equipment tracking, and manage inventory effectively.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety, ADA, and building regulations.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate performance of maintenance, custodial, and transportation personnel.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, corporate policies, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial and residential building maintenance and construction.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience in facilities operations.
- Proficient in managing building systems, preventive maintenance, and emergency response.
- Familiarity with regulations including NYS Code, ADA Guidelines, HUD, OSHA, DEC, OPWDD, and fire/safety codes.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and ability to travel between sites.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and assume physical postures needed for facility inspections and maintenance.
PAY RANGE: $75,000-95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
