Employee Engagement Manager 

Location: Remote/In-person meetings, as needed 

Organization: Union for Reform Judaism 

Employment Type: Full Time, Benefits Eligible, EXEMPT, MNGT  

Department: People & Culture 

Reporting to: Senior Director, People & Culture 

Start Date: ASAP 

Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 plus competitive benefits package 

The Role 

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) seeks a collaborative and people-centered Employee Engagement Manager to help foster a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive work environment where all employees feel valued, motivated, and connected. Grounded in the principles of racial equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI), the Employee Engagement Manager will design and implement strategies that strengthen internal culture, improve retention, and align staff around the URJ’s mission and strategic priorities. This position leads initiatives that enhance the employee experience, elevate internal communications, and cultivate a culture of collaboration, recognition, and belonging across our remote and hybrid workforce, ensuring staff feel seen, supported, and inspired to contribute their best work. 

What You Will Do 

Employee Engagement & Experience 

  • Design and implement employee engagement strategies to increase morale, motivation, and retention across a remote and hybrid workforce. 

  • Foster a culture of belonging where employees of all identitiesespecially People of Color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others from historically marginalized groupsfeel welcomed and supported. 

  • Plan and facilitate in-person and virtual all-staff experiences, including retreats, meetings, and learning opportunities that foster connection and alignment. 

  • Develop and implement recognition initiatives that celebrate individuals and teams for their contributions and impact. 

  • Partner with teams across the URJ to promote collaboration, elevate employee voice, and strengthen team culture in alignment with our mission and values. 

  • Gather and analyze engagement and satisfaction data to assess trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and inform strategy. 

  • Monitor industry best practices and recommend innovative approaches to staff engagement and experience. 

  • Support People & Culture team initiatives and contribute to broader strategic priorities as needed. 

Intranet Management & Internal COLLABORATION 

  • Manage the URJ’s intranet (The Service Center) as a central hub for resources, announcements, and collaboration. 

  • Ensure content is accessible, current, and aligned with organizational priorities and employee needs. 

  • Support organization-wide communication efforts, including the OneURJ newsletter and internal event calendars. 

Employee LifeCycle Support  

  • Oversee onboarding processes from offer through the first 90 days to ensure clarity, connection, and consistency, in partnership with hiring managers and onboarding partners. 

  • Support offboarding to ensure a respectful and meaningful transition and gather feedback to inform learning. 

  • Partner with the People & Culture team to support internal transitions, recognition, and team development.

  • Communication & Facilitation: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to create and lead engaging meetings, learning sessions, and retreats. 

  • Equity & Inclusion Mindset: Deep understanding of equity and inclusion principles and how to apply them in building affirming, inclusive experiences. 

  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Relationship-Building & Collaboration: Skilled at building trust, navigating complex dynamics, and supporting employees across all levels of an organization. 

  • Self-Management & Accountability: Proactive, dependable, and committed to follow-through in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. 

Qualifications  

Required 

  • 2+ years of professional experience in employee engagement, internal communications, organizational development, or a related field. 

  • Comfort with digital platforms and tools for communication, collaboration, and engagement (e.g., SharePoint, Zoom, MS Teams, Salesforce, Simplr, etc.). 

Preferred 

  • Experience managing internal communication platforms or intranet systems. 

  • Familiarity with Jewish values, community, or nonprofit organizational structures (not required but a plus). 

  • Knowledge of change management and organizational development best practices.
