Position Summary:
The Overnight Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and privacy of guests, staff, and hotel property during overnight hours. This role is critical in maintaining a discreet and professional presence on property, with particular focus on the protection and secure escorting of high-profile and VIP guests. The ideal candidate has prior luxury hotel or law enforcement/security experience and understands the importance of confidentiality, professionalism, and guest sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest & VIP Security
- Escort high-profile/VIP guests discreetly and securely to and from the hotel, including coordinating back-of-house routes and private access.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence in public areas while ensuring guests’ sense of comfort and discretion.
- Monitor guest interactions to identify and mitigate any potential disturbances or security concerns.
Overnight Safety Operations
- Conduct routine property patrols, including guest room floors, back-of-house, perimeter, and parking areas.
- Monitor CCTV cameras and access control systems to detect suspicious activity.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents; provide support until proper authorities arrive.
- Complete nightly security logs, incident reports, and shift handovers.
- Secure entrances and exits, ensure all restricted areas are locked and alarmed as required.
Protection of Property and Assets
- Safeguard hotel assets including storage areas, inventory, and equipment.
- Observe and report maintenance or safety hazards identified during patrols.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures, especially those related to health, safety, and property protection.
Team Support and Communication
- Support front office and overnight operations as needed (e.g., assisting guests with luggage or directions).
- Maintain radio contact with hotel leadership and other overnight personnel.
- Ensure overnight safety protocols are followed for employees entering or exiting the building.
Qualifications:
- Security, law enforcement, or military experience; prior hospitality or luxury hotel experience preferred.
- Proven ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication, conflict-resolution, and guest service skills.
- Must have a certified Georgia security certificate or successfully obtain certification within 45 days of employment.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (or must obtain within 30 days).
- Familiarity with security systems, surveillance equipment, and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs, and respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
