Job Summary
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented person to join our warehouse team. This day-to-day responsibilities of this position may include shipping and receiving, quality control (bill of materials verification), inventory control, material handling, and custom crate building. Comfort with computers is required, as this role requires regular use of software for tracking inventory, processing shipments, and keeping records. The ideal candidate has warehouse experience, forklift operation skills, basic computer skills, and rough carpentry skills building pallets, crates, and dunnage.
Main Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Log all shipments using inventory software.
- Create shipping labels, packing slips, and Bills of Lading using platforms like FedEx, UPS, or freight systems.
- Keep shipping records organized (both digital and paper).
- Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts or pallet jacks.
Quality Control
- Report any damages or missing items through digital forms.
- Check incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Verify quantities and product types from production floor against Bill of Materials.
Inventory Control
- Use inventory software systems to enter and update inventory data.
- Perform physical counts and update records digitally.
- Investigate and correct any differences in inventory using available data.
- Communicate inventory status with other departments using email and shared systems.
- Create and send inventory reports as needed.
Material Handling
· Move raw materials to production floor as directed.
· Move finished goods from production floor to finished goods storage.
· Move stored raw materials and finished goods as directed by supervisor.
Crate Building
- Build custom wooden crates using hand and power tools.
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood parts securely.
- Use foam, straps, and bracing to protect shipped items.
- Label crates with correct shipping info and handling instructions.
- Follow international shipping standards (ISPM-15) when required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, email, shipping software).
- 2+ years of experience in warehousing, shipping/receiving, or inventory.
- Experience in crate building, carpentry, or woodworking is not required but will be viewed favorably.
- Comfortable using digital tools and learning new systems.
- Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
