Special Process Operator – Blasting (Skill Level 2)
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: 8:00AM - 4:00PM
Pay Range: $18 - $21/hour
About the Role
As a Special Process Operator in the Blasting Department, you’ll play a key role in preparing and treating components to meet manufacturing and customer requirements. You’ll operate a variety of blasting, peening, and cleaning equipment with minimal supervision while upholding the highest safety and quality standards.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in hands-on industrial environments and are motivated to grow their skillset in a high-performance manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities

Perform surface preparation using grit blasting and shot peening equipment.

Operate manual, walk-in, and automated blast machines, adjusting parameters as needed.

Assist in furnace, machining, coating, and cleaning processes per production schedules.

Load/unload components using forklifts and assist in fixture setup for processing.

Perform and document preventative maintenance on blasting equipment.

Maintain and replenish blasting/peening media and department consumables.

Complete basic housekeeping and operate floor scrubbing equipment.

Follow JHAs (Job Hazard Analyses) and all safety protocols.

Transport components across workstations using approved equipment and methods.
Qualifications
-
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
-
Entry-level candidates with industrial environment experience welcome.
-
At least 1 year of hands-on experience operating blaster equipment is required for Skill Level 2.

Ability to train peers and perform preventive maintenance is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Comfortable operating blasting, peening, and water jet cleaning machinery.

Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment adjustments and minor repairs.

Certifications:

Must be willing to obtain and maintain forklift certification.

Industrial setting with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and chemicals.

Protective equipment required: goggles, respirators, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.

Crane usage available for lifting heavy tools and fixtures.

May involve wearing a full hooded air supply respirator during select operations.
