Position Title: Director of Children’s Ministries

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Hours: 20+ per week (will vary depending on the time of year)

Days: Sunday and Tuesday – MANDATORY, all other days of the week vary and some work can be performed in a hybrid capacity

SUMMARY

This is a part-time (approximately 20 hours/week) exempt staff position for a local Presbyterian Church located in the southside area of Jacksonville, FL. The Director of Children’s Ministries involves flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and may include out-of-town travel for mission trips and/or camps, etc. The schedule may vary from week-to-week and during different times of the year. The expectation is that the Director of Children’s Ministries will work on Sundays and Tuesdays, as well as other specific times as agreed by the Director of Faith Formation.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Director of Children’s Ministries position will report directly to the Director of Faith Formation. The Director of Children’s Ministries will collaborate with the Director of Faith Formation in overseeing a team of volunteers. The Director of Children’s Ministries will work with the Head of Staff/Senior Pastor, the Director of Faith Formation and Children’s Ministry Leadership Team to define the vision, goals and strategies necessary to effectively lead children into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and to meet the mission / vision of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø  Oversee the Children’s ministry of the church.

Ø  Oversee ministry administration including but not limited to calendar, communications, safety protocols, attendance tracking and database management.

Ø  Assist and lead the Children’s Worship.

Ø  Recruit volunteers and when needed lead the Children’s Moment during church services.

Ø  Conduct appropriate and timely orientations and collect background check forms for all volunteers who work with children or youth in compliance with current Human Resources policies.

Ø  Assist in organizing and helping in leading the larger summer CE programs, including, but not limited to VBS and Flame.

Ø  Manage permission forms

Ø  Schedule Children’s Worship and Children’s moment volunteers and ensure they have the curriculum.

Ø  Keep the Sunday Morning Schedule of volunteers up to date and communicate to the office manager.

Ø  Demonstrate a lifestyle and attitude that witnesses to the grace of Jesus Christ, and the love of God, actively promoting the peace, and unity, of the church.

Ø  Participate in regular staff meetings on a weekly basis, including forecasting upcoming educational and other committee activities.

Ø  Assist in leading Preschool Chapel as needed.

Ø  Assist in running the Fall Festival along with Easter Egg Hunt and Journey Through Holy Week.

Ø  Assume other duties from time to time that are deemed relevant to this job description by the Director of Faith Formation.
