Job Summary:
As a Vacuum Truck Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vacuum trucks to assist with excavation projects, including the removal of liquids, slurries, and debris. This role is vital to our operations, ensuring sites are clean and safe for further excavation and construction work
Must have a valid CDL driver’s license, with a good driving record and pass a pre-employment drug screening.Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

Ability to operate vac equipment: vac, track hoe, backhoe, trucks, and excavating equipment.

Performs daily inspection and maintenance of truck, machines, equipment, and tools for jobs.

Operate vacuum trucks to remove and transport liquids, slurries, and debris from excavation sites.
-
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure trucks are in safe operating condition.

Follow safety protocols and regulations, always ensuring compliance.
-
Collaborate with site supervisors and team members to coordinate waste removal and other services effectively.
-
Maintain accurate logs of services performed, including volumes and types of waste collected.
-
Perform routine maintenance on the vacuum truck and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
-
Assist in other excavation tasks as needed, including site cleanup and preparation.

Respond to emergency.
-
Reads and understands job blueprints, noting existing utilities and other obstacles at the job site.
-
Makes sure that all materials for job site are available.
-
Ensures that job site is barricaded, if necessary.
-
Vac Truck / Trailer maintenance.
-
Jackhammer concrete, asphalt etc.
-
Pothole utilities.
-
May also operate backhoe, mini excavator, shovel and vacuum truck.

Correctly communicate with crew of location utilities.
-
Patch potholed utilizes, leaving property better than initially found.
-
Back fill holes and pits.
-
Uses ground tampers and jack hammer.
-
Drive dump truck.
-
Properly dispose of vac materials.
-
Performs restoration work and clean up job site, making sure job site is as it was.
-
Files complete and accurate paperwork daily, (credit card receipts, timecards, daily completion sheets, job reports, billing, maintenance schedule, safety meeting information).

Communicates daily with the foreman regarding safety, work needs. Reports progress of jobs to the foreman and discuss any problems for resolutions.

Actively participate in safety meetings.

Follows established safety rules on job site, to and from job site, and uses common sense in maintaining a safe environment for self, team members, customer and the public.

Assist in any other assigned tasks as required.

Monitor and verifies quality control and uniformity of work.
-
Minor mechanical skills are required (repair machine, trailer, etc).
-
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals etc.

Ability to operate construction equipment and tools.
-
Ability to use basic math to calculate footage, measurements, prices, timecard, etc.
-
Familiar with construction terminology.
-
Ability to do physical labor and digging.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.
-
Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.

Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery.
-
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
-
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
-
Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.

Must be able to stand, walk, sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time.

Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker endorsements.

Previous experience operating vacuum trucks or similar heavy equipment preferred.
-
Knowledge of excavation and site preparation processes is a plus.
-
Strong understanding of safety regulations related to waste management and excavation.
-
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
-
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
