Movement Schools is looking for an exceptional, senior instructional leader to help us build thriving schools in Atlanta and across the southeast. Superintendents at Movement Schools serve as regional leaders and drive the success of our schools and principals. They oversee instructional and academic programs within their markets and are accountable for developing principals and the student success and achievement within their schools. 

As a regional superintendent at Movement Schools, you will manage the implementation of the organization’s vision, mission, and goals, oversee outstanding instruction and operations, and diligently coach all principals in your market. The regional superintendent reports directly to the CEO. Your responsibilities will include the following:

Management of Academic Program: 

● Using data and daily observations, coach and partner with principals to constantly evaluate and improve: instruction, teacher training, special education programming, curriculum implementation, assessment administration and analysis, and other aspects of each school’s academic programs and culture; 

● Coach and partner with principals to build a positive culture with staff, students, and families; ● Coach and support principals to plan and implement summer and school-year training and professional development for teachers; 

● Coach and support principals to manage hiring of teachers and other school staff. Management and Development of Principals and Instructional Leaders: 

● Provide frequent formal and informal feedback to principals and conduct an annual evaluation; ● Plan and oversee training for principal fellows and all network instructional leaders; ● Recruit for and participate in principal and instructional interview process; 

● Support, develop, and execute principal professional development across regions; ● Build personal and professional networks to cultivate future instructional and leadership talent at Movement.

 

Management of Regional and Organization-wide Instruction: 

● Build a “one network” culture for schools through principal meetings and communications; ● Ensure assessments, reports, and other data needs are managed and implemented by instructional leaders and school-based operations staff; 

● Research and identify best practices from Movement and other organizations and help disseminate those practices effectively to others. 

Execution of Movement Schools’ Mission and Vision: 

● Partner with the CEO and network leaders to develop regional initiatives and support operational and compliance needs for the region and schools; 

● Help foster relationships with regional boards of directors; 

● Partner with the network to meet organizational needs, including development, marketing, and recruitment; 

● Monitor and support schools in meeting the needs of special education students and work with internal and external partners to deliver high quality, cost-effective services for students. 

Financial Management: 

● Ensures that the budget funds the regional and network goals; 

● Has the ability to make appropriate instructional and fiscal recommendations and decisions. ● Oversees school facility management to provide safe, efficient and attractive buildings, with strong emphasis on preventative maintenance and custodial care; 

● Ensures funds are spent prudently by providing adequate control and accounting of the regional financial and physical resources. 

 

Educational Background and Work Experience: 

● Successful, formal school leadership experience as a principal or headmaster of a school or portfolio of schools serving a predominately underserved community with a proven, multi-year track record of exemplary student outcomes; 

● A bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in education, public policy, or related fields is preferred; 

● Must live in ATL/surrounding area

● Traveling is required
