ABOUT THE POSITION

Design control systems for electrical equipment and specify the components to be employed.

Key Deliverables

  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams.
  • Design electrical schematics and panel layout drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCADE (Electrical).
  • Create electrical bills of material (BOMs) using AutoCADE and Excel.
  • Create PID schematics.
  • Program electronic controllers (pressure, temperature, etc.) and radar devices.
  • Ability to program PLCs is desired.
  • Provide electrical technical support to parts and service technicians and other departments as needed.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in design reviews, releases, and changes, as well as in the development of products when requested.
  • Effectively communicate with internal customers regarding designs and changes.
  • Read, understand, and discuss technical requirements, articles, plans, drawings, etc.
  • Determine and follow quality and safety requirements from a product design perspective, in accordance with company needs and based on current standards and best design practices.
  • Use ERP and CAD systems to acquire accurate data for models, drawings, and bills of material (BOMs) and to process engineering change requests.
  • Keep all engineering clerical tasks current and properly filed.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; preferred curriculum in either Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of related work experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and AutoCADE
  • Possess extensive knowledge of electronic circuit (digital and analog) theories and design, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, and fiber optic cabling
  • Possess knowledge of requirements outlined in the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) 70, National Electric Code (NEC), and Class 1, Division 2 (C1D2) environments
  • Able to design 3-phase, 600-volt power systems and 240-volt AC, single phase power systems
  • Able to troubleshoot 3-phase power systems
  • Able to design and build control panels
  • Able to design and troubleshoot control circuits: 120-volt single phase circuits, 240-volt single phase circuits, 0 to 10 VDC and 4-20mA control circuits
  • Able to make voltage drop calculations, sizing conductors, and arc flash calculations
  • Able to size cable trays for conductors
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team to solve technical problems
  • Strong communication skills, ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with others, detail oriented, self-motivated, and project management skills
  • Willingness to participate in training and other educational opportunities to stay current with related technological advances and knowledge
  • National and international travel required. Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. passport for international travel. Must also have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Pass.
