Job Summary: The Cardiac Device Technician provides direct, high-quality care and support to patients requiring cardiovascular services involving arrhythmia management or ventricular assist devices. This role is responsible for the analysis, monitoring, and documentation of pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) performance—both in-person and remotely. The Cardiac Device Technician ensures patients and their families are educated on device management and follow-up procedures while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee pacemaker and ICD patient follow-up according to established clinical guidelines to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient care.
  • Analyze, monitor, and evaluate the function of various pacemaker and defibrillator models both in person and remotely, including management of remote checks, alerts, patient enrollment, and equipment requests.
  • Perform and interpret intra-cardiac device evaluations across multiple manufacturers, including threshold, sensing, and impedance testing with appropriate safety margins.
  • Establish and confirm underlying cardiac rhythm prior to device testing and demonstrate proficiency in telemetry and intra-cardiac electrogram interpretation.
  • Recognize patient symptoms or physiological signs of inappropriate device function or potential malfunction and take appropriate action.
  • Notify physicians of cardiac rhythms or device readings outside normal parameters in accordance with policy, and accurately document findings in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to review device status, provide detailed analysis, and ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Troubleshoot pacemaker monitors, resolve equipment or technical issues, and educate patients on monitor use and follow-up procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with the Code of Business Conduct, company policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to remain current on cardiac device technologies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Services Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience analyzing and reprogramming cardiac pacemakers and ICDs, or
  • Cardiac device technology certification from a recognized training institution.
  • Basic ECG interpretation and rhythm analysis.
  • Knowledge of NextGen or similar EHR system preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Outstanding organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and patients.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to work an 8-hour day with prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to manage prolonged periods of telephone communication in a fast-paced, high-call-volume environment.
  • This position may require occasional local travel as needed.

Compensation: $26.25 per hour - $41.65 per hour, depending on experience
