Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medical Assistant at Lone Star Family Health Center in Huntsville, where you'll make a meaningful difference in patients' lives every day!

As a valued Medical Assistant, you'll provide compassionate, direct patient care while supporting our mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services to our community.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with stable, family-friendly hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming environment by maintaining safety and cleanliness standards while ensuring adequate medical supplies are available
  • Conduct thorough pre-visit planning, implement screening protocols, and identify necessary tests and vaccines according to UDS measures and CDC immunization guidelines
  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, documenting visit reasons and medical history, performing medication reconciliation, and verifying allergies, pharmacy information, and recent hospital visits
  • Perform blood draws, heel sticks, and waived tests with precision after confirming order accuracy and patient identification
  • Prepare and label laboratory specimens according to established policy guidelines
  • Manage patient flow efficiently, communicating any delays to both medical providers and patients to ensure a smooth clinic experience
  • Facilitate continuity of care through appointment scheduling, phone communication, verbal interaction, written reports, and electronic messaging
  • Support patients by assisting with medication refills, obtaining durable medical equipment, and coordinating referrals
  • Provide professional chaperoning during sensitive procedures such as breast or pelvic exams and pediatric testicle checks
  • Anticipate provider needs by gathering appropriate instruments and materials for procedures and providing assistance as needed
  • Maintain sterile environments by properly cleaning and preparing instruments using standard precautions and following autoclave protocols
  • Adhere to rigorous infection control practices including hand hygiene, PPE usage, environmental cleaning, biohazard waste disposal, and safe injection techniques
  • Assist medical providers with patient translation services and communications, helping bridge language barriers for better care

Qualifications

Required:
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

Preferred:
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
