Research Laboratory Technician - Myrtle Beach

Join our groundbreaking team at the forefront of cancer research! As a Research Laboratory Technician at our Myrtle Beach location, you'll play a vital role in our mission to advance cancer treatment through innovative clinical trials.

In this position, you'll support our investigation team in adherence to phase 1 research protocols within the department and through the XenoSTART Patient Xenograft Program. You'll assist with consent collection, perform laboratory receiving, processing, handling, storage and shipping of biological specimens, equipment maintenance, and inventory control within the Pharmacokinetic Department.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-5

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Travel to partner hospitals to obtain patient consents and deliver or collect samples using a company-approved vehicle.
  • Review the "patients of interest" list and coordinate with clinical teams to confirm scheduled appointments.
  • Prepare research sample collection supplies per specific study specifications.
  • Receive, process, handle, store, and ship biospecimens according to protocols & biosafety procedures.
  • Collect and process tissue specimens according to protocols & biosafety procedures. Coordinate with other healthcare providers to receive patient tissue. Prepare tissue specimens as needed according to protocols & biosafety procedures.
  • Label, package, and prepare biological samples for shipment following protocol & biosafety procedures.
  • Complete study forms to include but not limited to shipping logs, shipping documentation, sample requisition forms, flow sheets, and sample manifests.
  • Perform administrative functions associated with the Pharmacokinetic Department, to include but not limited to work tally records, scanning internal and study specific forms, filing, and sample management documentation.
  • Contribute to study specific and departmental inventory control and re-supply of reagents and supplies as needed. Replenish lab supplies daily.
  • Sanitize laboratory equipment daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.
  • Perform and record daily/weekly/annual maintenance of equipment.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response for drug and specimen storage. Participate in on-call rotation for emergency management.

What You'll Bring:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with basic specimen handling procedures and medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Organizational skills to troubleshoot unplanned situations while still meeting established deadlines.
  • Proficient level of experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
  • Punctuality, good attendance and flexibility to work hours that accommodate clinic patient schedule.
