ABOUT THE POSITION

This critical position provides support to the Manufacturing organization by assisting in supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and improvement initiatives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure supplier compliance with quality standards and contributes to continuous improvement efforts across the supply base.  The Supplier Quality Engineer II will utilize quality engineering methodologies, systems, and practices to support a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution supply chain environment. 

 

Key Deliverables

  • Assist in supplier audits and assessments for quality systems and special processes using Supplier Quality Assurance & Development (SQ&D) processes.

·         Support APQP and PPAP activities in collaboration with Site Manufacturing and Purchasing teams.

·         Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action efforts using Lean and Six Sigma tools.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Execute standard SQ&D processes including supplier qualification, certification, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Provide technical support to suppliers and internal teams regarding quality and performance expectations.
  • Track and report supplier performance metrics; identify trends and support improvement strategies.
  • Develop and implement quality processes that enhance operational efficiency and support the organizations strategic goals.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure supplier compliance with specifications.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and Quality Quarantine inspections in accordance with nation and industry standards.
  • Assist in cost recovery efforts related to supplier quality issues.
  • Apply continuous improvement tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa Diagrams, and Control Plans.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspection services as needed.
  • Contract, as needed, 3rd party quality professionals for inspection or fabrication management services.

 

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineer and/or Supplier Development in a manufacturing company. Prefer metal fabrication and assembly experience.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
  • Strong data analytical, financial and research capabilities, proven problem-solving skills. Ability to make appropriate decisions.
  • Experience in working with and developing Supplier’s Quality Systems and Process Improvement.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, process improvement, root cause analysis, and critical thinking/problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, measurement methods & instruments for verifying specification attributes.
  • Technical ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment to juggle multiple priorities, to react quickly to emergencies. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and methodically manage project milestones.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly techniques and related standards and specifications.
  • Proficient with MS Office software with the ability to generate impactful data-driven reports.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Passport.

Office

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and a manufacturing shop plant environment.  Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing. Manufacturing Environment

Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock.  The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures.  The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection.
