Job Summary

The Land Technician / Contracts Clerk provides administrative, data management, division order, and contract support to the Land Department. This role is responsible for processing and maintaining land and ownership records, division orders, and contract files, as well as assisting the General Counsel with the preparation, maintenance, and routing of MSAs, PSAs, and other legal agreements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work collaboratively across Land, Legal, Finance, and Operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Land & Records Support

  • Maintain and update land files, lease records, ownership changes, and division order documentation.
  • Assist with preparing and processing lease extensions, amendments, assignments, and related land documents.
  • Track critical land deadlines, obligations, payments, and renewals.
  • Support Division Orders with ownership updates, title documentation, and interest verification.

Contract Administration

  • Prepare, process, and route MSAs, PSAs, NDAs and vendor onboarding documents for approval and execution.
  • Track contract statuses through execution, including routing for signatures and ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained.
  • Maintain contract files, insurance certificates, W-9s, and vendor compliance documentation.
  • Monitor contract expirations, required renewals, insurance lapses, and deliverables; notify internal stakeholders as needed.

Data Entry & Systems

  • Enter and maintain data in land and contract management systems (e.g., BOLO, Thoughtrace & Agiloft).
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems and physical/electronic files.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining contract logs, land databases, and tracking spreadsheets.

Cross-Department Support

  • Coordinate with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Supply Chain on vendor setup, contract compliance, and insurance requirements.
  • Support audits, regulatory filings, and internal reporting by retrieving, organizing, and validating documentation.
  • Assist land and contracts staff with ad-hoc research, special projects, and due diligence efforts.

Qualifications

Education:

  •          High School Diploma/GED required
  •          Bachelor’s degree in Business, Energy Management, Land Administration, Legal Studies, or related field preferred

Experience:

  •          1-3 years of experience in oil & gas land, contract administration, records, or similar administrative role preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  •          Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  •          Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  •          Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •          Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams); experience with land/contract systems a plus.
  •          Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  •          Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow within the Land/Contracts discipline.

Compensation

The base compensation for this role in this location is targeted between $62,000 and $80,000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed above.

Work Conditions

Location:

This position is in Denver, CO. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location.

Work Environment:

This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside an office space wherein employees may be provided a public workstation (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.

Physical Demands:

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

Position Type and Working Hours:

This is a full-time position. Core work hours are from 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 8:00am – 12:00pm on Friday. Employees must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.

Travel:

Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
