Job Summary 

As Financial Reporting Manager, this role will be a hands-on contributor who supports financial reporting, audit and controls, cross-functional projects, and day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and brings both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills.

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities: 

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and analyze internal and external financial statements and disclosures in accordance with US GAAP/IFRS and company policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all reporting deliverables, including management reports, variance analysis, and ad hoc requests.
  • Provide guidance on reporting requirements and regulatory compliance.

Technical Accounting

  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on the business.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance for new or unusual transactions, leveraging external advisors for complex matters.
  • Support the team with policy interpretation and application when required.
  • Ensure compliance with group accounting policies.

Audit & Controls

  • Coordinate and support all internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Maintain and enhance a robust internal control environment, identifying and addressing control gaps and process risks.
  • Finance incident management focal point to ensure no control gaps or failures.  
  • Ensure compliance with the control framework by monitoring adherence to established controls, recommend improvements and summarize results for management.
  • Champion compliance, risk management, and best practices across finance and accounting activities.

Project & Ad Hoc Support

  • Lead or participate in finance projects, including process improvement, system upgrades, and compliance initiatives.
  • Provide analytical support for special projects, cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Act as a finance business partner on cross-functional teams, supporting business decision-making with financial rigor and insight.
  • Develop and implement new policies, procedures, and controls to drive operational excellence.
  • Flexibility: As part of a small finance department, this role may be required to support other finance activities (e.g., account reconciliations, closing activities, etc.) across Controllers, Treasury, or other departments, either temporarily or permanently, as business needs evolve.

Day-to-Day Accounting Operations

  • Perform and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and other basic accounting tasks as needed to support the team and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, and other transactional processes.
  • Support month-end and year-end activities as required.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations with affiliate entities.
  • Prepare and provide financial information, schedules, and reports for group consolidation purposes.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Drive simplification, standardization, and automation of finance processes using digital tools and data analytics.
  • Work across multiple activities and assets, prioritizing tasks based on business value, risk, and professional development.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business lines, operations, and Treasury.
  • Collaborate with business and functional teams to ensure alignment and support for commercial and operational objectives.
  • Must be flexible and willing to take on new responsibilities as the department’s needs change, supporting various finance functions as required.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA/Technical Accountant preferred)
  • 10 - 15 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or similar industries
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Power BI)
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and technical accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial reporting, support audits, and perform hands-on accounting tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Manufacturing / Refinery experience a plus
