Contracts Manager
Hybrid: 3-days onsite, Vienna, VA
Responsibilities:
- Support our client's Procurement team's objectives by negotiating, executing, and managing commercial contracts for the acquisition of technology-related products and services
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts in the area of technology across different product categories. Experience with cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) terms negotiations is a bonus
- Lead negotiations on contract modifications with stakeholder input
- Assist internal stakeholders with contractual matters, requirements, risk management, and mitigation strategies
- Ensure the level of effort and attention to detail is commensurate with the complexity, value, and risk associated with acquisition
- Establish acquisition strategies including contract type, milestones, and business requirements
- Coordinate review of contracts or purchase agreements with Procurement Management and in conjunction with Office of General Counsel, as required
- In conjunction with the Business Unit, analyze vendor proposals and price quotes to determine reasonableness
- Develop negotiation objectives and lead negotiations related to contract pricing, terms and conditions with potential contractors
- Prior to contract execution, meet with Business Units and vendors to review key contract terms, conditions, requirements, deliverables, and timelines
- Interpret contract provisions for Business Units and provide appropriate guidance
- Close out contracts or issue termination notices and review settlement proposals
- Present alternatives and recommendations to solve unique and complex problems
- Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication
- Anticipate issues and identify solutions
Qualifications/Education:
- In-depth knowledge of and direct experience with commercial contracts and contract law, terms, and conditions
- Experience in acquisition planning, strategy development, negotiations, contract management and administration, pricing analysis, and acquisition related requirements
- Significant knowledge of commercial and business practices to develop, execute and manage contracts
- Significant knowledge evaluating and mitigating risk in contracts
- Skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
- Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of cost containment strategies
- Ability to multitask and work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, ensuring timely completion of assignments and meeting established standards
- Advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective skill interacting tactfully and effectively in complex negotiations with multiple stakeholders and priorities
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Contract Management, Information Technology, or related field. Highly desirable: Juris Doctor
