Clinical Nurse I (RN)
Role Summary
The Clinical Nurse I (CN I) provides direct patient care across the continuum of care while developing clinical judgment, technical skills, and professional practice. This role is designed for early-career nurses who are committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care within a collaborative, team-based environment.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Educate patients and families to support understanding, recovery, and continuity of care
- Accurately document patient care and outcomes in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to meet patient care goals
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and shared governance activities
- Follow infection prevention, medication administration, and patient safety protocols
- Maintain professional development through education, training, and clinical mentorship
- May serve as Charge Nurse following successful completion of orientation and manager approval
Required Qualifications
Education
- Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment with multiple priorities
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of nursing theory, patient safety standards, and clinical equipment
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies, alarms, and patient needs
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice

Pay + Schedule
- Pay Range: $35.80 – $59.89 per hour
- Classification: Non-Exempt
- Union Grade: DCNA – CNI
- Schedule: Variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
