Salary Range: $52,000 - $60,000 plus competitive benefits package
The Role
The Union for Reform Judaism’s Camp Harlam is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications to lead creative storytelling, marketing campaigns, and strategic communications that highlight the impact of our programs. This role blends creativity, strategy, and community engagement while partnering with a fun, mission-driven team dedicated to expanding Camp Harlam’s reach and influence.

Lead & Inspire Camp Life

Shape an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment where campers and staff can flourish.

Design and execute summer and year-round programs that reflect URJ values.

Drive initiatives that enhance camp operations and elevate participant experiences.

Partner with the professional camp team and the URJ Camping System’s national cohort to advance program innovation and professional development.
Lead Marketing & Communications
-
Develop and oversee marketing strategies and campaigns that that engage current and future stakeholders, including participants and supporters of our summer, year-round and fund development efforts.

Share and amplify Camp Harlam’s story through integrated channels, including social media, newsletters, emails, websites, videos, and graphics.

Design and implement social media strategy, overseeing content creation and platform engagement across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other channels.

Maintain and optimize camp and retreat websites to reflect current programming, key initiatives, and organizational messaging.

Ensure the effectiveness of communications and outreach by managing email and CRM systems (Salesforce and Marketing Cloud) and maintaining accurate, actionable data.

Provide excellent customer service for all camper families, supporting enrollment, camper and staff onboarding, and ongoing communication, while ensuring a welcoming and inclusive experience.

Leverage data and insights to optimize messaging, brand positioning, and outreach effectiveness.

Collaborate with Camp and URJ leadership to align communications with organizational priorities and advance fundraising, engagement, and programmatic goals.
BUILD COMMUNITY & DEVELOP STAFF

Foster a thriving camp community by supporting camper and staff recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives.

Serve as a relationship manager for regional congregations to promote summer and year round experiences.

Mentor and supervise summer communication team to execute marketing and communication strategies and campaigns.

Design and support staff training programs, including pre-camp orientation and staff performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications, or a related area.

Proficiency and familiarity with common marketing communications tools (e.g. Canva, Word Press, etc.).

Experience working in residential summer camps or immersive environments is strongly preferred.

Weekend travel for staff and camper recruitment, and occasional travel to camp and URJ meetings, professional development, or staff programs.

Live in residence at camp during summer season.

Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
