POSITION DESCRIPTION

If you get excited about designing advanced electronics for motor controls, instrumentation, and electric machinery, this is your chance to turn big ideas into real-world solutions. You’ll work on everything from power electronics circuit design to embedded systems, blending creativity with precision engineering to keep our facilities running at their best.

You’ll take on the challenge of designing and deploying next-generation control and drive electronics for our Oak Ridge, TN and Piketon, OH sites. From creating detailed design packages and testing electronics to troubleshooting complex systems, you’ll be hands-on with projects that directly impact nuclear energy technology. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, lead projects, mentor engineers, and interact with both Centrus leadership and the U.S. Department of Energy. Every day, you’ll push boundaries by applying analytical methods, simulations, and industry standards to design safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that keep our operations moving forward.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 6+ years of experience (or equivalent) in industrial electronics, preferably with a focus on power electronics and electric machinery (PEEM) design

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, embedded systems design, and R&D
  • Strong technical knowledge spanning low-voltage DC through three-phase systems
  • Proficiency with engineering tools like PSPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, and OrCAD
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and computational skills
  • An active “Q” lor “L” level security clearance 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with centriufuge manufacturing or uraniuam enrichment.
  • A Master’s degree or 12+ years’ experience in industrial electronics design
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (UL, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, NUREGS)
  • Background in electric motor design/manufacturing or embedded software development
  • A passion for solving complex engineering challenges with innovative, real-world solutions

  • Oak Ridge – 100% onsite position.
