POSITION DESCRIPTION
These support efforts will be to assist in the development, preparation, and operation of various science and engineering research and development activities. SRNL will draw on the support personnel's experience and expertise in the plutonium processing.
Activities may include:
- Participate in current and emergent work scope activities to include supporting experimental design and progress.
- Providing subject matter expertise in Plutonium processing.
- Review and comment on reports, specification packages, test plans, test results, and other documentation.
- Support as required in preliminary planning activities and discussions.
- Provide information at schedule and planning meetings.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Typically an advance degree and experience –
- PhD degree and about 15 years experience, OR
- MS degree and 17 years experience, OR
- BS degree and about 21 years experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in a Plutonium facility.
- Candidate must demonstrate fifteen (15) years of experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Candidate must be able to produce written documents with clearly organized structure and grammar.
- Candidate must communicate orally with management, project team members, DOE customers, and federal regulators.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),
- Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to perform weekly field walkdowns of the job sites for the engineering work being performed. These walkdowns may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing.
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (Lor Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
LOCATION
- Aiken, SC – Hybrid Position
- Up to 20 hours per week
