Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter to fabricate, assemble, and fit structural steel components according to blueprints and specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of structural layouts, welding symbols, and safety standards, and can work efficiently in an industrial or construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

·         Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

·         Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components (beams, columns, plates, braces, etc.)

·         Measure, cut, grind, and tack-weld materials to precise tolerances

·         Align and secure parts using clamps, bolts, and welding equipment

·         Verify dimensions and quality of fitted components before final welding

·         Operate hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments safely

·         Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and OSHA regulations

·         Work closely with welders, supervisors, and other trades to meet production schedules

·         Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping of work area

Qualifications & Experience

·         High school diploma or GED preferred

·         2+ years of experience as a Structural Fitter or similar role

·         Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings and welding symbols

·         Knowledge of steel fabrication processes and materials

·         Experience with measuring tools (tape measure, squares, levels, calipers)

·         Basic welding and tack welding experience preferred

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

·         Stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or elevated areas

·         Ability to work in hot, cold, and noisy industrial environments

Work Environment

·         Shop or field-based work

·         May require overtime, nights, or weekends depending on project needs

·         PPE required at all times
