Location Hybrid (Preference for Northern California area), expectation to be at Camp Newman (Santa Rosa) frequently throughout summer camp season.

Start Date: March 15, 2026 

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000 plus competitive benefits package 

The Role 

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) seeks a strategic and relationship-driven Associate Director of Development to support fundraising and deepen donor engagement for Camp Newman’s summer and year-round experiences. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data and storytelling, strategy and execution, and is passionate about helping people of all ages thrive through immersive Jewish experiences. 

What You Will Do 

Fundraising Strategy & Implementation 

  • Partner with camp and URJ leadership to implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual campaigns, capital projects, planned giving, alumni engagement, and prospect management. 

  • Support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors at all levels, with a specific focus on building Chai Society membership ($1800+) major donors, foundations, institutional funders and grassroots through the summer visitor’s program.  

  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager and Director of Advancement to coordinate donor communications, fundraising appealsimpact reports, and campaign collateral 

  • Support alumni and community-building efforts, including coordination of communication and development of alumni leadership structures. 

DATA, REPORTING & SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT 

  • Partner with Director of Advancement and Growth to create and execute systems for stewarding donors through the cycle of giving with an emphasis on deepening engagement 

  • Manage donor database systems (Salesforce), ensuring accurate gift entry, acknowledgments, reporting, and compliance in partnership with the Business Manager and URJ development team. 

  • Track progress toward fundraising goals, generate reports, and provide strategic insights to inform future efforts. 

  • Coordinate grant tracking, reporting, and compliance in partnership with camp and URJ development teams. 

  • Provide occasional administrative support for the Executive Director, Director of Advancement, and key lay leaders.

  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Skilled at planning and executing fundraising campaigns, building donor pipelines, and cultivating relationships with donors, lay leadership, alumni, foundations, clergy, and community stakeholders. 

  • Data & Analytical SkillsComfortable using donor database systems (Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge) to track gifts, analyze trends, and generate insights that guide strategy. 

  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear, compelling written and verbal communicator who can report the impact of donor contributions. Thrives in collaborative environments and builds alignment across teams and leadership. 

  • Personal Accountability & GrowthTake initiative and follow through on commitments with high integrity. Organize and prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Continuously reflect and improve, communicating effectively across all levels of the organization.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business Administration, or related field. 

  • 3+ years of relevant fundraising experience  

  • Ability to be on-site during the summer for key donor events and visits. 

  • Occasional in-person meetings, as needed
