Perioperative Inventory Specialist
Role Summary
Howard University Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented, operationally focused Perioperative Inventory Specialist to support the efficiency, compliance, and financial stewardship of Perioperative Services.
This role is responsible for inventory optimization, vendor oversight, supply availability, and operational process improvement within the surgical environment. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, supply chain discipline, and the ability to execute projects independently in a fast-paced clinical setting.

What You’ll Do
- Lead change management efforts to right-size inventory and improve perioperative efficiencies
- Monitor vendor compliance and performance
- Conduct daily inventory review, ordering, and replenishment of disposable and non-instrument supplies across all perioperative storage locations
- Monitor supply expiration dates and ensure appropriate removal and replacement
- Resolve and mitigate backorders to support uninterrupted OR operations
- Process bill-only invoices and ensure timely return of ophthalmology and tissue implant records
- Log tissue implants within the clinical electronic application
- Define and execute inventory-related projects in collaboration with the Business Manager
- Perform physical inventory counts of all SKUs and update inventory tracking systems
- Perform additional operational duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2–5 years of experience in:
- Physical inventory management
- Supply acquisition and ordering
- Customer-facing operational roles
- Independent project execution
- Data analysis with actionable operational recommendations
- Healthcare, surgical services, or clinical supply chain experience preferred

Pay + Schedule
Pay Range: $28.26 – $45.21 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
