We are currently taking applications for Mosquito Agricultural Technician in the Morgan City, LA area. 

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Mosquito Agricultural Technician to support mosquito control and agricultural spray operations. This role is responsible for assisting with mosquito abatement programs through the safe application of pesticides, monitoring mosquito populations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

This position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions and may include early morning, evening, or weekend shifts during peak mosquito season.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mosquito surveillance and collect field samples for identification and population tracking

  • Assist in the preparation, mixing, and application of approved pesticides and larvicides

  • Operate and maintain spray equipment, trucks, foggers, and other application machinery

  • Perform routine inspections of agricultural and residential areas for mosquito breeding sites

  • Maintain accurate field logs, chemical usage reports, and compliance documentation

  • Follow all federal, state, and local pesticide regulations

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals

  • Communicate findings and recommendations to supervisors and team members

  • Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Agricultural or pesticide application experience preferred

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Ability to obtain or currently hold a state pesticide applicator license (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

  • Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid, and physically demanding conditions

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs


Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of mosquito species identification and lifecycle

  • Experience operating agricultural spray equipment or ULV fogging equipment

  • Basic mechanical aptitude

  • Experience with GPS mapping or field data collection systems


Work Environment

  • Primarily outdoor fieldwork

  • Exposure to chemicals, heat, humidity, and rough terrain

  • May require overtime during peak seasons
