POSITION DESCRIPTION

Provide SME level support as directed in mechanical engineering and techno-economic financial studies, applied to different fields and sectors, such as: hydrogen production, storage, compression and delivery; thermal storage systems; chemical plants, including ethylene production processes and organic acid separation processes. Provide continued support to the DOE Hydrogen Storage Engineering Center of Excellence. 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Typically an advance degree and experience –

  • PhD degree and about 15 years experience, OR
  • MS degree and 17 years experience, OR
  • BS degree and about 21 years experience.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in Department of Energy. 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to perform weekly field walkdowns of the job sites for the engineering work being performed. These walkdowns may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing.
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (Lor Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
