Agile Coach
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to drive organizational transformation by coaching, training, and mentoring employees at all levels on Agile principles and practices. In this role, you will cultivate an Agile mindset across our client's enterprise, demonstrating and teaching the values of the Agile Manifesto while building the technical skills that underpin modern development methodologies. You will ensure Agile frameworks are understood and applied effectively, influencing both leadership and teams through your subject matter expertise and thought leadership. This position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape how our client delivers value through Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach, lead, and mentor cross-functional business groups to build, sustain, and strengthen Agile values, SAFe and Scrum concepts and practices across high-impact programs
- Identify and coach Agile evangelists across the organization to act as informal mentors and increase organizational maturity
- Coach teams in Scrum practices including sprint planning, user story mapping, estimations, daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives
- Monitor Agile project metrics to identify potential problem areas and assist teams in implementing solutions
- Provide structured and ad-hoc training in Agile principles, Scrum, Product Ownership, and Program Management
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify specific training and coaching needs
- Oversee coaching and planning of multiple high-performing Agile development teams and large-scale programs
- Provide coaching and mentorship on Lean Agile, Agile, and SAFe principles to all organizational levels
- Prepare communication artifacts related to Agile practice, progress, and plans
- Develop and deliver presentations to stakeholders and facilitate working sessions to resolve impediments
- Apply industry standard scaling concepts to business problems in alignment with Scaled Agile values
- Provide strategic thought leadership on approaches to overcome delivery impediments and facilitate conflict resolution
- Foster communication and collaboration between teams to align program goals and ensure leadership transparency
- Ensure appropriate risk management and control practices are integrated into Agile initiatives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business lines, team members, management, and key stakeholders
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve Agile tools and best practices implementation
- Lead Agile teams through product framing and discovery, including business KPIs, product vision, and user story mapping
- Drive consistent Agile practices and strategy across the organization to enhance business value delivery
- Serve as the voice of reason and authority on Agile concepts and principles
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, DevOps, etc.) with successful track record coaching and transitioning teams, programs, and portfolios
- Experience in successful Agile transformation at scale in large enterprise organizations
- Experience with multiple Agile methodologies (Scrum, XP, SAFe, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience coaching and developing people and teams, influencing behavior change and establishing cultural sustainability
- Experience with JIRA or Microsoft Azure Boards
- Experience coaching teams in scaled Agile principles and practices
- Proven ability to work with senior executives and effectively communicate and influence decisions critical to Agile adoption
- Experience leading Agile training sessions, workshops, planning sessions, and creating required documentation
- Experience delivering presentations to virtual and in-person teams
- Working knowledge of Agile principles and practices with ability to transfer knowledge across all organizational levels
- Strong emotional intelligence and organizational awareness with ability to challenge norms and influence without formal authority
- Effective skills in working upward and across reporting lines to establish trust and solve problems
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade to reach positive outcomes
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, adjusting messaging for target audiences
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms
- Strong motivational and mentoring skills
- Excellent relationship-building skills through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact
- Advanced verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of our client's functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
