Manager – Specialty Outpatient Services
Role Summary
The Manager of Specialty Outpatient Services provides operational leadership for specialty outpatient programs including the Infusion Clinic, Diabetes Clinic, Wound Care services, and related ambulatory programs. Reporting to the Director of Specialty Outpatient Services, this role oversees daily clinic operations, staff supervision, patient flow, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery.
The Manager collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to support operational performance, patient satisfaction, and the continued growth of specialty outpatient services.
What You’ll Do
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of specialty outpatient clinics including infusion therapy, diabetes services, and wound care programs
- Manage clinic schedules, patient throughput, and staffing coverage
- Ensure efficient workflows and high-quality patient care delivery
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, supervise, and develop nursing and support staff
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and operational coverage
Regulatory Compliance & Patient Safety
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and District of Columbia Department of Health regulations
- Maintain adherence to infection prevention and patient safety standards
- Support regulatory readiness and accreditation activities
Quality & Performance Improvement
- Monitor operational metrics and clinical performance indicators
- Support quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction efforts
- Implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and care delivery
Financial & Operational Management
- Support management of departmental operating budgets
- Monitor clinic productivity, utilization, and supply usage
- Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and patient access
Collaboration & Program Support
- Work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Support implementation of ambulatory initiatives and program development
- Assist the Director with operational execution of outpatient service strategies
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience in ambulatory services, infusion therapy, wound care, or outpatient specialty programs preferred
Licensure & Certification
- Current Registered Nurse license in the District of Columbia
- BLS certification required
- Specialty certification or leadership certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of outpatient clinical operations and patient flow management
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Ability to lead clinical teams and promote staff engagement
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to analyze operational data and support performance improvement initiatives

Pay + Schedule
Salary Range: $94,842 - $151,746 annually
Compensation is determined based on experience, education, and internal equity.
Position Type: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday daytime hours with occasional evening or weekend coverage as operational needs require.
