JOB SUMMARY:
The Cybersecurity Engineering Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership to the cybersecurity team – working and supporting the team to design, implement, and maintain robust security solutions that protect the organization’s infrastructure, applications, and data. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure security initiatives align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.This role is recognized as a subject matter expert in the work area. Manages large projects or processes, policies and standards under limited supervision. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to junior employees. Problems faced may be difficult and often complex. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical job responsibilities of the Cybersecurity Engineering Lead include:

Serve as technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) over the design, implementation and support of cybersecurity controls, tools, technologies, and configurations across BKV networks, systems, and applications.

Key point of contact to the infrastructure team to support all cybersecurity tools, technologies, and configurations on BKV workstations and servers.

Oversee the technical design, implementation, and support of all network firewalls, anti-virus, and malware protections.

Oversee the technical design, implementation, and support of all cybersecurity owned and managed networks, systems, and applications.

Perform cybersecurity investigations as requested by the Sr. Director of Cybersecurity and Human Resources.

Technical lead to manage and perform project objectives and tasks for the implementation and change of cybersecurity tools, technologies, and configurations.

Support, participate, and own the performance of controls and compliance activities.

Lead and oversee the implementation and support of processes and technologies over identity and access management to align BKV systems and personnel access with the person’s job responsibilities and appropriate business defined separation of duties requirements.

Work closely with the Security Operations Center leading the processes and closure of cybersecurity related vulnerabilities, responding to cybersecurity events, tuning and performance of the SIEM, and any other related SOC identified tickets or incidents.

Manage and support incident response plans, processes, and remediations to aid in ensuring cybersecurity incidents are handled in a prompt and timely manner

Investigate root cause of potential cybersecurity incidents and recommend actions to the Sr. Director of Cybersecurity.

As needed, manage, oversee, and support cybersecurity resources and consultants.

Ensure change management, communications, and training are provided when cybersecurity changes are made to the BKV environment.

Manage cybersecurity related awareness training and phishing campaigns are kicked off and provided to BKV personnel.

Provide inputs into cybersecurity metrics and dashboards to BKV leadership.

Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of cyber security projects.

Ensure partnership, collaboration, and communication with business personnel to ensure cybersecurity controls are in alignment with business objectives initiatives.

Write and propose changes to IT and cybersecurity policies and processes.

Aid and support ensuring compliance (SOX, NERC, etc.) requirements are consistently followed and met across the organization.

Other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
-
Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues and regulatory requirements.

Strong knowledge of security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, cloud security).
-
Experience with cloud security for energy platforms and secure remote access for field operations.

Ability to manage vendor relationships and security audits for third-party contractors.

Expertise in OT security, ICS/SCADA systems, and network segmentation.

Familiarity with oil and gas operational processes and safety-critical systems.
-
Strong knowledge of security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, SIEM).

Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOX and NERC CIP.

Leadership skills including an advanced ability to work cross-departmentally, develop others and influence the organization to achieve results.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-related applications. Uses understanding of digital concepts to create basic digital tools.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

BS or BA in a Technical related field

Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, GICSP, CISA, or equivalent) preferred
-
Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant technical engineering experience in cybersecurity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS

This position can be located in Denver, CO at BKV Headquarters, BKV’s Fort Worth, Texas office. Other locations may be considered.

Remote and hybrid work will be considered.

Some travel up to (20%) may be required for the installation of cybersecurity hardware and software.
