About the Role
As a Systems Analyst II at Howard University Hospital, you will support the implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of the enterprise clinical and operational systems that keep patient care and hospital operations running. You will partner with hospital departments, technical teams, and external vendors to make sure the applications behind patient care function reliably, efficiently, and securely.
You will analyze business and clinical workflows, identify opportunities to improve systems, and take part in implementations, upgrades, integrations, and troubleshooting. You will also support system users, maintain documentation, and help departments use technology to work smarter and deliver better care.
What You'll Do
- Analyze clinical and operational workflows and recommend system solutions that improve efficiency and data accuracy
- Support the implementation, configuration, and optimization of hospital information systems and related applications
- Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution with internal teams and vendors
- Assist departments with reporting needs and data retrieval to support operational and analytical requirements
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, data conversions, and software deployments
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders on system changes, enhancements, and issue resolution
- Support system integration efforts and ensure compatibility between applications and infrastructure
- Provide technical guidance and support to system users across clinical and administrative departments
- Assist with user training, documentation, and change management for new or updated systems
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to support hospital operations
- Participate in IT and hospital project teams supporting system implementations and enhancements
- Maintain system documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting healthcare information systems or enterprise applications
- Experience supporting system implementation, configuration, testing, and deployment activities
- Experience analyzing business or clinical workflows and translating requirements into system solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex application environments
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams, vendors, and hospital departments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hospital information systems or clinical systems
- Experience working with healthcare vendors or enterprise healthcare applications
- Experience participating in system implementations, upgrades, or integration projects
Position Details
Department Application Development & Support Services Reports To Sr. Director of Enterprise Applications Employment Type Full-Time FLSA Status Exempt Pay & Schedule
The salary range for this position is $75,500–$90,000 annually. Final compensation is determined based on experience, education, internal equity, and organizational guidelines.
This is a full-time, exempt position based onsite at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. On-call availability is required for this role.
