Overview
The Systems Automations Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the automated workflows that power business processes across Stellar Virtual's technology ecosystem. This position will primarily focus on workflow automation, process orchestration, and business logic development, requiring the ability to translate complex operational processes into scalable, reliable automations that improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support our mission of empowering families and unleashing potential. 

Essential Duties

  • Workflow Automation & Process Design
    • Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows that support enrollment, onboarding, student support, and other critical business processes across Salesforce, Student Information Systems (SIS), and enterprise applications.
    • Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational processes into scalable automation logic, decision trees, triggers, and multi-step workflows.
    • Continuously evaluate and optimize automated processes to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and enhance the user experience.
  • Automation Performance & Platform Collaboration
    • Monitor automation performance, identify failures or unintended outcomes, and resolve issues through root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
    • Partner with the Systems Integrations Lead to ensure automated workflows function seamlessly with cross-platform data integrations and synchronization processes.
    • Collaborate with platform administrators and business teams to ensure automations support evolving operational needs while maintaining system reliability.
  • Governance, Testing & Documentation
    • Ensure automated workflows adhere to data governance standards, security requirements, and organizational best practices to maintain accurate and reliable data.
    • Coordinate testing and user acceptance validation for new or updated automations to ensure solutions meet business requirements before deployment.
    • Develop and maintain automation documentation, workflow diagrams, decision trees, and troubleshooting resources that promote knowledge sharing and long-term sustainability.
  • You will play a key role in our collective success by proactively pivoting to support emerging business needs and strategic priorities directed by your manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in workflow automation, Salesforce administration, systems automation, or a related technical role, preferably in a remote environment. 
  • 2+ years of experience working within K–12 education, virtual education, higher education, or education technology environments, with a strong understanding of student lifecycle processes (enrollment, attendance, support ticketing).
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
  • Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining workflow automations using Salesforce Flow Builder and other low-code or automation platforms.
  • Experience developing multi-step workflows, decision logic, triggers, approval processes, and business automation solutions across integrated systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot automation failures, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Understanding of business process analysis, workflow optimization, and data governance best practices.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I, or comparable workflow automation certifications are preferred.

Required Skills
