Description

Nexus Circular is seeking a Senior Project Coordinator – Capital Projects / PMO to support the planning and execution of industrial capital projects. This is an early-career opportunity designed for a motivated individual interested in developing a career in capital project management, project controls, construction, or engineering.

The Project Coordinator will work directly with Project Managers, engineering, construction, procurement, operations, and contractors to help manage project cost, schedule, scope, risk, and execution. The role combines PMO responsibilities with hands-on exposure to active engineering and construction projects and provides a strong development path toward future Project Engineer and Project Manager responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with the execution of capital projects from development through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Maintain project cost tracking, commitments, forecasts, contingency, and budget-versus-actual reporting.
  • Assist with project schedules, milestone tracking, look-aheads, critical activities, and schedule variance analysis.
  • Support development of scopes of work, contractor bid packages, estimates, purchase requisitions, and change orders.
  • Review contractor proposals and assist with scope comparisons, cost validation, and change management.
  • Track engineering deliverables, RFIs, procurement activities, construction issues, and project action items through resolution.
  • Coordinate information between engineering, construction, vendors, contractors, operations, and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare project dashboards, Steering Committee updates, forecasts, meeting materials, and executive-level project reporting.
  • Participate in construction site walks, contractor coordination meetings, project reviews, and field verification activities.
  • Assist with project closeout, turnover documentation, lessons learned, and continuous improvement of PMO processes and standards.
  • Develop increasing ownership of small capital scopes and projects as experience and capability grow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience; qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship, co-op, construction, manufacturing, estimating, project controls, or engineering experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in understanding how industrial capital projects are engineered, constructed, commissioned, and turned over to operations.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, contractors, field personnel, project managers, and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other standard business applications.
  • Exposure to project management, scheduling, cost controls, construction management, or reporting systems is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who wants to build a career managing capital projects rather than solely performing administrative project support. They are comfortable working with project data and controls while also wanting to understand how work is executed in the field.

This role is well suited for someone who wants broad exposure to project management, cost and schedule controls, estimating, construction, engineering coordination, commissioning, and project execution, with the opportunity to progressively take on greater project ownership
