Position Overview
The Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition equipment, materials and services critical to data center construction and operations. This role oversees sourcing for high-value infrastructure components such as cooling systems, power equipment, and construction services. The Director will collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to support rapid deployment and scalability of data center facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Leads, maintains, and executes procurement activities for several construction projects in performing purchasing responsibilities, overseeing outsourced procurement vendors, and ensuring continuity of supply and/or services.
Serves as a primary point of contact for identifying and resolving internal and/or external contract delivery, execution risks, and road blocks.
Leads the (RFI) and/or request for proposal (RFP) processes, manages supplier evaluation frameworks, and partners with suppliers to drive innovation and execution improvement.
Applies end-to-end understanding of procurement processes to drive business impact and leads decision-making around workstream processes.
Collaborates with senior stakeholders to drive consistency across supply chain requests.
Monitors the impact of complex change orders to the underlying business case, and partners cross-functionally to adjust models.
Drives supplier and contractor performance management, including safety deliverables, by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and providing timely feedback.
ComplianceCommunicates delays to stakeholders, and independently proposes and executes contingency measures.
Leads periodic supplier audits against policy/contractual requirements.
Create governance model and standard processes to ensure up to date sourcing and supplier data.
Procurement and Contracts
Serves as a primary point of contact for identifying and resolving internal and/or external contract delivery, execution risks, and road blocks.
Ensures supplier performs the work in accordance with requirements set forth in the contract.
Processes or supports stakeholder procurement requests
Resolve and escalate the resolution of pricing issues to senior team.
Leads effort to ensure supplier performs the work in accordance with requirements set forth in the Purchase Order.
Stakeholder CollaborationDevelops and leads pricing and negotiation strategies for several complex projects, ensures that strategies clearly articulate tradeoffs, roles, and responsibilities across parties, and gains C-suite support for strategies both internally and externally.
Anticipates negotiation setbacks, proactively drives action to mitigate contract disagreements, and coaches others on negotiation best practices across internal sourcing teams.
Drives early business engagements for complex business areas or purchasing categories with cross-functional leadership including product design, quality, and business teams, to define and drive action on supply solutions and strategies, business requirements, optimal sourcing spend, and priorities.
Shares expertise to advise cross-functional teams on sourcing decisions.Budget & Performance Management:
Manage multi-million-dollar procurement budgets for national data center projects.
Track KPIs such as cost savings, lead times, and supplier performance.
Prepare reports for senior leadership on procurement performance.
