Overview
The Secondary Teacher, Electives – Spanish (6–12) will be responsible for delivering engaging and standards-aligned virtual Spanish language instruction, supporting student language acquisition, and fostering cultural awareness and communication skills among secondary students. This position will primarily focus on Spanish language instruction, virtual instructional best practices, student engagement strategies, and language development, and require the ability to design and deliver interactive lessons, differentiate instruction for diverse learners, and create a positive and inclusive virtual learning environment to fulfill our mission of empowering families and unleashing potential.
Essential Duties- Develop and deliver engaging and interactive virtual Spanish lessons aligned with Washington state standards and course objectives for secondary students.
- Create student-centered lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that support language acquisition and cultural understanding.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, multimedia resources, and educational technologies to support diverse learning styles and language proficiency levels.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative virtual classroom environment that encourages participation, communication, and critical thinking.
- Facilitate live instructional sessions as well as asynchronous learning activities, discussions, projects, and assignments.
- Provide timely, clear, and constructive feedback on student assignments, assessments, participation, and language development.
- Differentiate instruction to support varying levels of Spanish proficiency and individual student learning needs.
- Monitor student academic progress using formative and summative assessments to guide instructional planning and interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, participation, and academic progress.
- Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic performance, course expectations, and student support needs.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, curriculum specialists, and support teams to enhance the virtual learning experience and instructional effectiveness.
- Utilize learning management systems, virtual classroom tools, and educational technology to facilitate effective online instruction and communication.
- Participate in professional development opportunities focused on virtual instruction, language acquisition, and instructional best practices.
- Support on-site testing events or school activities as required throughout the academic year.
- Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
- Work collaboratively with counselors, special education staff, and student support services to address student needs.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
- Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theory, instructional best practices, and assessment strategies for language learners.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to engage students through interactive and culturally relevant instruction.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills in a virtual environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote instructional environment.

Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, World Languages, or a related field required.
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate with a World Languages endorsement required.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
