Responsibilities (MS SQL Server):
We're looking for a Rock Star... an A-player who can jump right in and hit the ground running. You should have a proven track record of successfully delivering and maintaining Database Management, MS SQL Server 2008/2008 R2/2012, Database Security, Requirements Analysis, Problem Solving, Promoting Process Improvement, Data Maintenance, Database Performance Tuning, Process Improvement, Large System Implementation, Database replication, Data clustering, and Good understanding of Windows OS administration.
Responsible for database scripting, setting the configuration of both and SQL Server
Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development
Assist infrastructure DBA with routine performance and availability testing on database servers to ensure scalability, resiliency, and capacity of all applications
Provides expert level database administration support to 3rd party vendors, developers and others as needed
Optimizes SQL performance, partitioning, indexing, stored procedures and DTS packages
Establishes monitoring thresholds for database systems
Works evenings and weekends, as required, providing support and maintenance for systems, providing 24/7 support and troubleshooting for business critical database servers
Establishes physical database parameters, including, file system layout and performance requirements
Manages patch deployment and migration for SQL Server, including, testing procedures and release/change management processes
Works closely with System Administrators & Application Development teams to support the architecture/operational practices
Assists in developing and testing disaster recovery procedures and plans for Microsoft SQL applications
Interfaces with application providers to assist in optimizing third party applications
Manages capacity planning activity for database systems including storage usage
Provides and manages data replication services as needed
Provides support for applications with database troubleshooting
Executing database backup and recovery operations, database patching and upgrades, and implementation of database security policies
Partnering with project technical leads and development teams to execute technical solutions in line with customer expectations and company strategic goals
Integrating SQL systems with third-party tools and environments
Responsible for database engineering, as well as build, run, and help provide strategic technical direction for the department.
Work with the infrastructure DBA to ensure the performance, availability, and security of the databases
Requirements
Minimum 8 years of related experience with at least 5 of those years using SQL Server in a DBA/equivalent role
DBA experience supporting of large enterprise-wide high availability databases and data warehouses is REQUIRED
In depth SQL Server Database Administration experience including clustering, replcation, log shipping and mirroring is REQUIRED
Knowledge of MS SQL 2012 RDBMS on large systems is REQUIRED
Experience managing multiple MS SQL 2005/2008 RDBMS on large systems.
Good Performance tuning and trouble shooting skills are mandatory
Good customer service attitude and willing to go on-call and assist the team as needed are mandatory
T-SQL coding and PowerShell coding is a must
Exceptional knowledge of SQL Monitoring tool – IDERA
Workable knowledge of Storage and Hardware and Network components used in DB clustering
Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects
Extensive work experience with Snapshots using NetApp storage technologies
Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
Practical experience in managing the internal and external and MS SQL database security, maintenance plans, and disaster recovery
Knowledge with SQL 2012 – Always On to implement HA and DR solutions
Experience with Transactional SQL (T-SQL) and SSIS Packages
Having working experience with both and MS SQL Server databases install
Having BI/ Data warehousing experience on Microsoft tools is a huge asset as well.
