The Field Service Technician travels to customer jobsites to perform trouble shooting, repair, installation, and commissioning of governors and complete control systems for engines, steam turbines, gas turbines and their associated driven equipment such as generators, pumps compressors and turbo expanders. When not at customer jobsites, perform in house activities such as customer technical support and control system test support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:- Theory and working knowledge of governors, electronic controls and instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of engines, steam turbines, gas turbines and their associated driven equipment such as generators, pumps compressors and turbo expanders.
- Conduct field service visits in a safe, efficient and prudent manner.
- Develop and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Communicate project status, technical and commercial issues to appropriate Drake personnel.
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Woodward products. Basic proficiency is achieved within three months of hire. High level proficiency is achieved within six months of hire.
- Well organized and keep detailed records of field service activities.
- Provide classroom and/or hands on training for customers if required.
- Identify sales opportunities and communicate these opportunities to the company.
- Must have or be able to obtain TWIC card and US Passport.
- Expected travel is 80% for day trips to regional customer sites and 30% overnight.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma, two year technical degree and 2 years relevant work experience are required.
Experience with repair of generators, engines, compressors, and turbo expanders.
Will accept military technical training, related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of two year technical degree.
