We are now accepting resume/applications for EXPERIENCED Dredge Deckhands for the Morgan City, LA and surrounding area.  Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:

  • Scope of Work:
    • Loading and unloading cargo or luggage, relaying important information to the crew, maintaining ship equipment, assisting with watchkeeping duties, and ensuring the general upkeep of the vessel. ​​​​​
  • Duration of Job: Temp to Hire
    • Based on job performance
  • Position Requirements:
    • MUST be able to pass drug screen & Background
    • Must have the following: TWIC and Valid Drivers License
  • Required Skills:
    • Knowledge of maritime safety
    • General knowledge of dredging operations.
    • General knowledge of working on vessels.
    • General knowledge of mechanical systems, operations, and maintenance.
    • General knowledge of power/hand tools.
    • Basic knowledge of service engines and generators.
    • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
    • Strong oral & written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively with others
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task 
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.
      • Performing general maintenance duties like painting, sweeping and mopping
      • Loads or unloads material from barges, scows, and dredges
      • Splices and repairs cables and ropes, using hand tools
      • Inspect merchandise upon delivery to identify any damages.
      • Cooking meals.
    • Frequently monitor all dredge equipment.
      • Maintain and service dredge engines and equipment.
      • Greasing and cleaning machinery
      • Assist with shift inspections and shift maintenance duties.
    • Assist the Dredging Operator with removing sand, gravel, or other accumulated sediment with a dredge.
    • Assist the Dredging Operator with operating a variety of equipment utilized in dredging.
    • Using various ropes, knots and radio and navigational equipment
    • Lowers and mans lifeboat in case of emergencies
    • Act as lookout and maintain watch on deck and for dredge plant.
    • Handle deck-based dredge plant and operate deck machinery.
    • Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.
      • Preparing cabins for crew
      • Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities.
      • Mange house keeping activities when requested.
    • Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.
      • Practice safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
      • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
      • Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
      • Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
  • Physical Requirements: Documents Required:
    • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
    • Ability to work and live on vessel for extended periods of time.
    • Excellent physical fitness & strength
    • Will be required to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, and crawl to perform task
    • Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
      • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
      • Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
      • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
    • Driver's License/Identification Card
    • Social Security Card/Birth Certificate
  • Must be able to provide own PPE (Hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, gloves)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Pay:
    • $150/Day - $200/Day (Based on Experience)
    • Weekly Pay
    • Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday
  • Schedule:
    • 14/7 Schedule
