                                               Food Scientist II

We are working on Food Scientist position in the plant-based industry! This position will be responsible for helping in the design, development, and commercialization of plant-based products. You will be leading product development programs, interacting with external suppliers, doing hands on bench work, and assisting in industrial scale up to name a few! Must have strong timeline management and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Independently managing technical project according to the Stage Gate Process methodology
  • Working within project teams as the R&L lead to develop formulas and processes, address technical hurdles, provide guidance related to commercialization, assess risks, and manage R&I timelines
  • Contributing to innovation and productivity pipelines outside chartered program work by engaging with the plant-based community, suppliers, external partners, and internal cross-functional teams
  • Designing pilot trails, organizing tasting sessions with marketing, and drawing conclusions and recommendations for next steps
  • Driving CI across all areas of the role including systems, and manufacturing procedures
  • Collaborating with suppliers to obtain the best results for product development, follow up on their progress
  • Ability to drive projects across various technical categories as business needs deem necessary
  • Identifying new suppliers that bring technological advantage to product portfolio and share insights across all impacted within R&I organization
  • Participating in consumer test design, organize sample production and ensure product quality follow up
  • Realizing scale-up/industrialization with engineering and manufacturing partners and conducting shelf-life studies
  • Participating as an R&I representative for product launch/start up by preparing all specifications related to product line (except packaging) and ensuring that all documentation needed is available prior to start up
  • Planning and executing the development of prototype products in lab, pilot plant and at production facilities. Maintaining stringent technical and experimental documentation
  • Sourcing & maintaining vendor relationships to secure the necessary ingredients that align with prevailing company standards. Evaluating new suppliers and/or ingredients
  • Ensuring all developed products meet internal and external guidelines for nutrition, regulatory affairs and food labeling (including a broad range of certifications
  • Networking with your internal community to share best practices



Required Skills/Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science, nutrition, or a very closely related field
  • 4+ years with product development, industrial processes and manufacturing practices, preferred knowledge would be development of plant-based products. Will take 2 years of experience with a related Master’s Degree
  • Able to travel 25%& willingness to support plant trails outside of business hours
  • Strong project management, organization, and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Able to work cross functionally and train staff
  • Proficient in product development systems and general computer skills
  • Passionate about creating, rapid prototyping, development, and commercialization under tight timelines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage and track multiple projects
  • Passionate about CI and optimization
