Assistant Plant Manager
We are looking for an Assistant Plant Manager for a long-standing dairy manufacturing company. They focus on producing innovative, high-quality products and providing industry-leading service. The Assistant Plant Manager will be responsible for the production and for executing the strategy and direction of the Plant Manager. This will be accomplished by directing, managing, and leading the Plant Supervisors as well as interfacing with Purchasing and with HR.
Location: Harrisburg, PA area
Job Responsibilities:- Responsibility for Employee Safety and Product Quality Control
- Developing and improving the performance of Plant Supervisors, setting expectations, and holding them accountable.
- Ensuring that plant employees are on-boarded (new) and trained (new and experienced)
- Supervising the daily and weekly personnel schedules of the production machine operators, taking into account abilities, shift changes, and vacation and personal days.
- Developing and maintaining extensive knowledge of the production process and the machinery involved.
- Tracking the schedule of, preparing for, and performing inspections with food safety/ 3rd party inspectors.
- Contributing to the management of the process for nutritional labeling and calculations.
- Providing input into Production forecasting and scheduling
- Maintaining and editing 3-4 weeks of Production Schedules, working with the Vice Presidents of Production and of Purchasing, and distributing to appropriate personnel.
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisors or Plant Management.
Required Skills/Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Vocational Certifications in manufacturing, engineering, or related fields preferred.
- Team Management and development experience required
- Food and beverage Manufacturing Experience required, (dairy preferred)
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes
- Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive motions
