More About the Position:
CERTERRA/Western Technologies Inc. is seeking staff Geologist, to join our geotechnical team in Tucson, AZ! The ideal candidate excels in working with a team, is self-directed, adaptable, entrepreneurial, and aligned with CERTERRA’s core values and mission. This position will be primarily field and laboratory based, with opportunities to develop management and reporting skills as responsibilities increase.
What You Can Do for Us Now:- Plan and conduct detailed field explorations involving field mapping, drilling, test pits, trenches and collection and characterization of soil and bedrock samples
- Characterize and evaluate soil, rock, groundwater and other natural conditions prior to major construction projects
- Identify and develop mitigation measures for potential geological hazards affecting life, land, and property.
- Perform geotechnical laboratory tests
- Perform well-defined field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities as required
- Build geologic models, interpret subsurface stratigraphy, and draw cross sections to aid in geotechnical engineering reporting
- Contribute to preparation of a diverse range of reports and technical documents with a focus on accuracy, clarity, succinctness, and document QA/QC
- Work with Project Managers and Principals in developing creative environmental and geotechnical project strategies and providing strong client representation and advocacy to regulatory agencies
- Additional tasks as needed
The Candidate We Hire Must Have:
- Passion for the environment and science
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Started to earn, or have interest in earning a Professional Geologist license (not required)
- Ability to solve problems in the field and are mechanically inclined
- High motivation with excellent technical writing and documentation skills, a talent for interpersonal communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multi-task and meet multiple strict deadlines
- Reliable, dependable, and punctual
- U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Valid Driver’s License
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, or related field. (not required)
- 0 to 3 years of related experience
- Experience with Microsoft Suite software.
- AutoCad experience is a plus
