Today, We Are Looking For

The Assistant, Regional Economic Development, provides administrative support to the Vice President of Regional Economic Development and Industry Experts in Life Sciences, Energy, and Aviation & Aerospace. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the division by managing calendars, coordinating meetings, supporting travel logistics, and assisting with program and event execution. The Assistant will also help maintain project documentation and provide general administrative support to the broader Economic Development team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are essential to job performance: ​​​​​​

  • Maintain and organize calendars (set appointments, field requests for meetings/luncheons) for the Vice President and Industry Experts and other members of the Economic Development team as required.
  • Prepare and organize backup materials for meetings, presentations, and events.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and process correspondence, contacts, filing, purchasing supplies, and mail/email daily, as needed.
  • Process invoices, expense receipts/reports, and other items for approval and signature.
  • Salesforce database maintenance of membership directory and Regional Economic Development projects
  • Staff liaison for the administrative needs of the Advisory Committee and the Industry committees.
  • Assist in event planning and management.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize requests from multiple leaders, exercising sound judgment and decision-making to ensure deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on action items resulting from meetings and events.
  • Maintain a database of attendees for events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent composition, writing, grammar, and arithmetic skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs.
  • Professional and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Preference for working with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and tact.
  • Ability to work with confidential matters and use discretion as required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and flexibility to prioritize assignments while working on multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, as necessary.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.  


Required Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years of administrative office clerical or related experience desired.


Physical Requirements

  • Good vision and hearing acuity (with adaptive aids if necessary).
  • Manual dexterity and skillful use of computer keyboard.
  • Physical exertion includes bending, pushing, standing, and walking.  Must be able to move or lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion.

Mental and Aptitude Requirements

  • Job requires the ability to hear, see, and talk; analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, planning and decision-making skills.
