Manufacturing Supervisor – Assembly

 

The position responsibilities are as follows:

 

·         Demonstrate a strong commitment to actively promoting and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.

·         Actively promote employee safety engagement through shift start up and tiered meetings, toolbox talks, QJSA, near misses and work observation submissions and discussions.

·         Maintain a strong focus on 6s and workplace organization.  Ensure 5s activities are carried out and actioned upon daily, weekly, monthly.

·         Supervise and coordinate Assembly and Surface Finishing operations to meet production requirements.

·         Organize daily workload and team member assignments in support of schedule adherence and on time delivery.

·         Implement and drive lean process improvements through coordination with manufacturing engineering and operational excellence representatives in the following areas:

o    Cross training

o    Standard work development and auditing

o    Setup and run time reduction

o    Work cell organization

o    Product flow improvements

 

·         Ensure all equipment checks and PM’s are completed with any deficiencies reported.

·         Be aware of any upcoming schedule constraints and plan accordingly – part shortages, equipment repairs, employee absences etc.

·         Identify production bottlenecks and with team members and manufacturing engineering to resolve.

·         Monitor quality, generating, and actioning NCR’s, develop and implement corrective actions.

·         Manage the team by assisting in the hiring of production employees, integrating new hires, coordinating production staff, and the monitoring of employee performance. Accurately assess problems, analyze, and evaluate options to manage issues and address concerns that arise with employees.

·         Communicate and keep plan deadlines while making the necessary interventions to successfully finish orders on time. 

·         Participate in the training and development of the skills of all team members.  Give timely constructive feedback to enhance performance.

·         Promote employee engagement amongst everyone.

·         Instill creativity, greater participation, and problem-solving capabilities in all employees while fostering a sense of community and respect among all team members.

·         Help plan and organize production within the mechanical, hose and electrical assembly areas in addition to blast and paint: assigns work according to production needs and issues recommendations on production organization and makes adjustments.

·         Keep track of production activities and is able to report out the status of all jobs

·         Monitor equipment availability and operational status to ensure production processes are carried out as scheduled and targets are met.

·         Maintain accurate and up to date standard work instructions for the and audit to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with those work instructions.  

·         Ensure accurate records are maintained and signed off / approved in a timely manner.  Including time & attendance information and job records / paperwork.

·         Work within expected company standards regarding ethics, safety, quality, productivity and environmental matters.

 

The preferred candidate will have:

 

·         A demonstrated commitment to promoting a safe work environment and the willingness to actively participate in our health and safety programs

·         A post- secondary education in a related discipline

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols

·         Training in lean concepts and methodologies and the application of same in a manufacturing environment,

·         A proven track record of using lean problem-solving methods (ie. 5 why’s, Pareto analysis, value stream mapping),

·         Good computer skills using Microsoft office software,

·         A proven track record demonstrating the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team environment.
