The Dawes Arboretum is currently recruiting a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to join our team.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a robust volunteer program that supports The Arboretum’s mission and priorities. Additionally, this role will recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers across all departments of the organization, while ensuring meaningful and engaging volunteer experiences.

 

Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:


·         Oversee The Arboretum’s volunteer program, including but not limited to budget management, volunteer recruitment, training and onboarding, volunteer assignment and management, engagement, and recognition.

·         Build and maintain relationships with volunteers by regularly visiting and engaging with them. Lead volunteer experiences when needed.

·         Update and maintain the Volunteer Handbook to reflect volunteer expectations, policies and best practices.

·         Manage the volunteer background check process.

·         Schedule and conduct regular volunteer orientations and training programs.

·         Track volunteer engagement and program outcomes, ensuring accurate and timely data for reporting and evaluation.

·         Participate in outreach efforts to schools, civic groups and corporations, as needed, to promote The Arboretum’s volunteer program.

·         Coordinate all volunteer special events, recognition and appreciation celebrations.

·         Associate’s degree in business administration, communications, human resources, natural resources, education, or related field; or a combination of education and experience.

·         One (1) year of demonstrated experience in volunteer engagement, program coordination, or project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

·         Previous experience with VolunteerHub is a plus.

·         Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

·         Exemplary communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal).

·         Proven experience managing large volumes of data and accurate records.

·         Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team member, as well as work independently to accomplish goals and benchmarks.

·         Availability to work evenings and weekends, as well as irregular hours. Ability to attend community events and meetings.

·         Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.

·         Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

The annual compensation range for this position is $42,000-$47,000.

Pay Range
$42,000.00   Annually to $47,000.00   Annually
