Primary Areas of Responsibility
Financial Management
-
Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner including monthly and annual financial statements, and grants accounting.

Collaborate closely with the advancement team to provide accurate financial data that supports grant applications, donor reporting, and fundraising strategy. This role works closely with the Advancement Director to ensure accurate grant spend-down tracking and compliance with donor requirements, supporting long-term donor trust and financial transparency.

Coordinate and lead the annual audit process including liaising with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors.

Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process.

Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.

Update and implement all necessary business and accounting policies and practices.

Manage all vendor and external contracts.

Provide staffing support to the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee.

Ensure compliance with all relevant international, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Human Resource & Technology

Manage professional employer organization (PEO) contract that supports and provides HR, payroll, benefits, risk management, and compliance services.

Oversee and coordinate policies and protocols related to hiring, recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding and other administrative matters including accessible and evergreen training documentation and resource libraries.
General Administration

Manage our third party contract for IT and cybersecurity services. Oversee and foster the development of information technology solutions. Deploy and manage org-wide systems integration of virtual workplace tools including HubSpot, Google Suite, Slack, Atlassian Trello, Squarespace, MailChimp, and more.

Ensure effective coordination among communications, development, administrative, and financial functions of the organization.
Main senior management duties:

Provide strategic vision for the future of the operational infrastructure

Oversee and implement changes in approaches, methods, projects, and processes to improve organizational efficiencies.

Identify risks and develop mitigation plans to protect organizational interests.

Work with other members of the senior management team to develop an organizational culture that promotes transparency, collaboration, impact, accountability and fun.
Must Have Qualifications & Competencies - The following are some of the core skills and competencies that we have identified as required for success in this position.

Education - A Master’s degree and at least 5 years of senior leadership experience. NOTE: A successful candidate need not have a college degree if they can demonstrate relevant experience and skills.

Budgeting - The ability to forecast, develop, & communicate budget requirements & policies across all units of the organization (projects, departments, teams, etc.). The ability to develop & maintain internal controls, to apply reconciliation, & to troubleshoot & solve emergent problems. Also includes knowledge of relevant technologies & software. Experience supporting fundraising teams by providing financial projections, grant reporting, and strategic budget insights.

Compliance Management - The ability to monitor & assess systems to ensure they comply with legal, regulatory, industry & organizational standards, policies, & requirements including grants management.

Cost Management - The ability to plan & control the costs associated with running the organization. It includes collecting, analyzing, & reporting cost information to more effectively budget, forecast & monitor costs.

Financial Reporting - The ability to develop, understand, & present financial information & performance to internal & external stakeholders. The ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with -- those who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds

COMPENSATION
The annual salary for this position is in the range of $120,000 and $135,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Clean Energy Works is prepared to offer an attractive compensation and benefits package, including healthcare benefits, 401(k) match, 11 paid holidays, 12 sick days, and 23 vacation days. A full-time workweek at Clean Energy Works is 35 hours.
