SUMMARY

Safely erects and fits together appropriate equipment and materials for the building of asphalt plant and related components.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.   • Assists in the building of asphalt plant equipment and related components by safely and efficiently fitting and welding metal parts in a quality-conscious manner.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to properly and weld using the GMAW and FCAW processes.
  • Inspects metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and produce welds with minimal post grinding.
  • Ensures welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed.
  • Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding, including hood and filter shades and arm/body protection.
  • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Overtime including weekends may be required as necessary

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

None

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Ability and experience to properly and safely weld using GMAW and FCAW.
  • Ability to read and understand weld symbols on drawings required.
  • Ability to safely use cranes and forklifts required.
  • Must be able to pass a welding skills test.
  • Fit-up knowledge and ability required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; and ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
