Part-Time Controller – NYC (On-Site, 3 Days/Week)

A top client has partnered with Hueman to find a part-time Controller in NYC.

Please note: This position will be 3 days a week, on-site.

This position is newly created. We have had an offshore controller, but this is our first direct and part-time hire for the position. You will work with a very capable bookkeeper in addition to an accounts receivable and payable clerk.

The purpose of the position is to be responsible and accountable for the financial operations, insurance requirements, and administrative aspects of the company. Specifically, it entails working with fellow team members to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial statements, close the monthly books, adjust for proper accruals, lead cash management, and manage financing relationships on a day-to-day basis.

It is important that the person is able to create standard operating procedures and coordinate different functions within the company to facilitate smooth financial operations. Lastly, the person will be able to interpret financial and operational data to create reports for the President and VP of Sales. This is a leadership position within the company. As such, this person is expected to be a problem solver and operate without high-level guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for integrity of financial statements and monthly reporting packages

• Handle all reporting requirements and tax matters

• Create and implement accounting and financial policies

• Prepare and oversee financial analysis and projections

• Maintain day-to-day lending relationships

• Maintain commercial and health insurance relationships

• Maintain banking relationships on a day-to-day basis

• Leading the financial team

Job Qualifications:

• Strong desire to continuously learn and challenge yourself

• Self-starter who is a problem-solver and likes to continuously improve

• Detail oriented with an attitude of “I’ll find a way”

• At least 4 years in a controller function or accounting firm

• Accounting degree and relevant certification (i.e. local CPA equivalent)

• Extensive experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Dynamics or similar

• Personable and customer-centric attitude

• Team player

• Fluent in English
