Job Title: Surgical Pathologist
Position Overview: V-Tech Solutions is sourcing a skilled Surgical Pathologist to support our client’s pathology department. The Surgical Pathologist will be responsible for performing detailed macroscopic (gross) examinations and microscopic evaluations of surgical specimens to provide accurate diagnoses that guide patient care. This role requires strong collaboration with clinical teams, adherence to quality and safety standards, and the ability to participate in specialized pathology procedures including autopsies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform macroscopic examination, description, and dissection of surgical specimens of varying complexity.
· Prepare, analyze, and interpret tissue sections under the microscope to diagnose diseases, including cancers and other pathologies.
· Prepare and deliver clear, concise pathology reports summarizing diagnostic findings.
· Collaborate closely with surgeons, oncologists, and other healthcare providers to correlate clinical information with pathological results.
· Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards (e.g., CAP, The Joint Commission).
· Participate in special pathology procedures such as immunohistochemistry and molecular diagnostics when necessary.
· Assist with or perform autopsy procedures, including prosecution and report preparation.
· Maintain quality assurance activities, including review of diagnostic concordance and turnaround times.
· Engage in continuing education, research, and training of pathology residents or lab staff as applicable.
Qualifications:
· MD or DO degree with Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology (preferred).
· Subspecialty training or experience in surgical pathology is highly desirable.
· Strong knowledge of histopathology, surgical pathology techniques, and laboratory operations.
· Excellent communication skills for interaction with clinical teams and report writing.
· Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
· Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently with strong attention to detail.
