Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a motivated Fellow Engineer - Nuclear Safety to contribute to our mission supporting our work at

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.

Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.

Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.

Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.

Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.

Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.

Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.

Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.

Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.

Prepare reports for external publication.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education & Experience: An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D degree and about 10 years' experience.  OR a MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR a BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
  • Considered an internal expert in area of expertise. Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problem in field.
  • Experience working in the nuclear safety industry through support of the DOE or the commercial nuclear industry.
  • Previous experience with use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 421.1, and related directives and standards is required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous SRNS experience.
  • Previous experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining SRS safety basis documents.
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years.


PF-81 Evaluation Criteria: 
    • Price and Cost to Company: 20%
    • Technical Acceptability: 20%
    • Availability and Price Qualifications of Personnel: 60%
                               

Duration of the Contract: 1 year, 2 option periods.

Estimated Hours Per Year: 2080 ST 400 OT

Anticipated Work Schedule: 6:45a-5:15p Mon-Thurs. 

Onsite or Remote? Hybrid. 50% On-site. 50% Telework. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense.
