Today, We Are Looking For

As the Senior Vice President of Research, you will oversee the Research Division to ensure high-quality and timely research and analysis that supports the Partnership's strategic goals and priorities in economic development, public policy, and member engagement. You will direct daily activities, set division priorities, and manage resources while fostering team development. You will serve as a key spokesperson on regional economic matters, drive strategic dialogue with economists, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance organizational initiatives and regional impact.

The following responsibilities are essential for the Research SVP:
• Design and Lead Research Functions: Develop and oversee a best-in-class research function supporting the Partnership's core activities, divisions, members, and stakeholders, including analytics, special studies, and strategic data initiatives.
• Provide Strategic Division Support: Direct research efforts across divisions, including Public Policy legislative agendas, Member Engagement analytics, Economic Development proposals, International Trade missions, and Marketing and Communications media assistance.
• Maintain Comprehensive Databases: Supervise the development and maintenance of extensive information resources, including Houston-specific data, publications, and the Partnership’s company and membership databases.
• Publish and Present Expert Insights: Oversee the creation of key publications (e.g., Houston Facts, job forecasts), deliver economic and fiscal impact studies, and be a thought leader on regional trends and economics.
• Engage with Stakeholders and Leadership: Represent the Partnership in the community, manage divisional staff, and collaborate with members, investors, media, and regional allies to advance economic and strategic goals.

To thrive, you should have:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, statistics, finance, data science, public policy, or a related field, with demonstrated coursework in economics.
• Minimum of 10 years of business-related research experience, including at least 5 years in management roles with increasing responsibility.
• Proficiency in economic principles, quantitative techniques, data analysis, and visualization, including experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R, Python) and AI research tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaborative ability, and experience creating reports, market analyses, and proposals for diverse audiences.
• Understanding the Houston region and familiarity with international business, economic trends, and local, state, and national policy issues, supported by expertise in relevant data sources and research techniques.
